October 20, 2023

Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.

The big disappointing news this week is that a majority of Members of Parliament, elected to represent Canadians and help guide our country, voted to defeat a bill that would have saved mentally ill Canadians from doctor-assisted suicide under Trudeau’s evil MAiD regime. But, there is a silver lining too. You can read about that in our Press Release below and about our call to Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to fulfil his March 2023 promise to repeal euthanasia for those struggling with mental illness.

I was delighted to see Prolife Alberta’s brilliant new billboard campaign aiming at getting out the pro-life message while bypassing censorship. Of the many things I love about pro-life advocates, one of them is how resourceful they are when so much is stacked against us. Bravo!

Pro-life researcher Patricia Maloney has discovered that government money earmarked for helping sick people in their communities and homes has gone to an abortion group so they can train doctors to be efficient baby killers. This is almost too sick and disturbing for words. Government officials must be held accountable for this gross mismanagement of funds

Don’t miss the must-see video of the week about a 92-year-old pro-life advocate who prays at an abortion mill every day. Truly inspiring!

Top Canadian pro-life stories you need to know about

Campaign Life Coalition Press Release: Poilievre must fulfil promise to repeal euthanasia for mentally ill

“We thank the Conservatives for having voted unanimously in favour of C-314 and call on Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre to fulfil his March 6, 2023 promise to repeal the extension of euthanasia to the mentally ill, should he come into power,” said CLC National President Jeff Gunnarson. “We call on concerned Canadians to hold Mr. Poilievre accountable to his promise. Canadians who are struggling with mental illness and depression need treatment, not killing.”

Campaign Life Coalition: More and more Canadian cities are passing laws to censor protests against LGBT indoctrination

“A disturbing trend is spreading across the country, one that directly threatens the free-speech rights of Campaign Life Coalition’s supporters, and indeed, the rights of every liberty-loving Canadian.”

Campaign Life Coalition: Look who’s fighting against gender ideology in B.C.

“It’s clear that Mr. Rustad is well aware of where parents stand on this issue, and it was heartening to hear him be so upfront about this in the legislature! We're not accustomed to Canadian elected officials speaking so boldly on moral issues.

Campaign Life Coalition: Partial victory against pro-LGBT censorship bylaw

“If parents and concerned citizens from a variety of faiths had not come together to vigorously resist the unjust by-law, things would be much worse for our fundamental freedoms and our right to protest LGBT indoctrination in schools.”

Prolife Alberta: ‘Too Disturbing for This Billboard’: Pro-life group evades censorship with brilliant new campaign

“Activist city-councils, like those of Calgary, Strathmore, and High River, have attempted to silence pro-life free speech. That is why we have launched ‘The reality of abortion is too disturbing for this billboard’ a massive, province-wide advertising campaign that aims to keep the disturbing reality of abortion visible, and to bypass the unjust censorship of activist city-councils.”

Run With Life: Canadian abortion group NAF gets $1.5 million to improve killing skills of abortion doctors

“The funding went to NAF under the THE HEALTHCARE POLICY AND STRATEGIES PROGRAM. The thing is, this program was meant for ‘home and community care; palliative and end of care; mental health care; and other Federal provincial territorial and emerging priorities.’ So how does the government justify granting dollars for training abortion doctors to kill babies?”

LifeSiteNews: Trudeau Liberals vote down bill seeking to stop euthanasia of mentally ill Canadians

“MPs in Canada’s House of Commons this afternoon voted down a private members bill introduced by Conservative Party of Canada (CPC) MP Ed Fast that would have repealed the expansion of euthanasia laws to those suffering from mental illness.”

Euthanasia Prevention Coalition: Parliament committee to re-examine expansion of euthanasia to people with mental illness after C-314’s defeat

“The Euthanasia Prevention Coalition is pleased that the government will consider further oversight of the law but we are not confident that the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying, which is stacked with pro-euthanasia MP's and Senators will offer any substantive changes.”

LifeSiteNews: Alberta Conservatives to debate school pronoun policies during upcoming convention

“Alberta Conservatives are considering mandating parental consent for children to “change” their pronouns at school.”

Maureen, have you ever heard the pro-abortion argument that abortion is no big deal since it’s only getting rid of a clump of cells? Sadly, this line of reasoning shows how ignorant so many are about the miracle of life unfolding day by day in a mother’s womb, from the moment of conception onward.

How does a pro-life advocate respond to this argument?

The fact is, when it comes down to it, every living being is also a “clump of cells,” including you and me. But, this particular clump of cells in the womb of a pregnant mother is not only alive, fulfilling all the criteria of biological life (having highly organized structures, responding to stimuli, potential to reproduce, growing and developing, regulation, maintenance of homeostasis, energy processing), but this clump of cells is also a full member of the human species whose life began at conception, when sperm and egg united.

Abortion is therefore not getting rid of a mere “clump of cells,” but the direct and intentional killing of a preborn human being living within his or her mother. And, this particular clump of cells only needs time to develop until the day comes when he or she is born and held in the arms of another clump of cells, namely, the mother.

You see, the pro-life movement is on the side of truth. And, truth always wins in the end. Never forget that!

Be bold and daring for life!
