Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.

It’s been an amazing week for parental rights in Canada.

The biggest news is that after massive parental backlash, the Saskatchewan government has permanently banned Planned Parenthood from schools after the pro-abortion organization sent a child home with flashcards about how to perform harmful and perverted acts of a sexual nature. Many of you reached out to the Scott Moe government asking for Planned Parenthood to be banned. And, it worked. Thank you to all of you who called and wrote emails!

A new poll released by Angus Reid has found that the vast majority of Canadians believe that schools should inform parents if children wish to change their identity. Politicians are beginning to wake up and realize that parental rights is a winning issue. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has now come out strongly stating that when it comes to kids in public schools, “parental rights come before the government’s rights.” Bravo!

And, to top it all off, Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce has now come out saying that parents must be “fully involved” if a student wants to change their gender identity or pronouns at school. While he did not commit to any formal policy, this is certainly a step in the right direction.

Children in a Hamilton secondary school will be shocked to return to school next week and find a male teacher who sports gigantic fake breasts and wears a blond wig along with lipstick as one of their teachers. In an insane move, trans teacher ‘Kayla’ Lemieux has been rehired after making Ontario’s education system the laughing stock of the world over how it bent over backward to defend and accommodate this individual’s “gender expression” and “gender identity.” It’s more proof of how bad the education system really is.

Don’t miss our video of the week where 40 Days for Life president Shawn Carney makes a powerful case during a TV interview for why it’s illogical for pro-lifers to back 15-week abortion bans. Carney’s position aligns with CLC’s that to be pro-life means to advocate for laws that protect life from the first moment of conception.

Finally, don’t miss my reflection at the bottom about a deeply moving experience I had last week that convinced me that God is at work in the pro-life movement and has not abandoned his people.

Maureen, I witnessed something deeply moving last Saturday. A young, pro-life woman publicly gave herself permanently to Christ, promising to be faithful to him all the days of her life while vowing to advance a pro-life vocation to “protect and enhance the sacredness of human life.”

The young girl was radiant, her face shining like the sun, as she walked down the aisle of St. Michael’s Cathedral Basilica in Toronto. She looked the perfect bride, but a bride who was giving all her love to the best of men – Jesus.

Bride-of-Christ Sister Gaudia walks up the aisle during the August 25 profession of vows.

I witnessed the sheer joy on her face as she pledged herself to this divine man. I witnessed the holy tears and deep emotion as she committed herself to a life of poverty, chastity, and obedience in the context of ministering to women experiencing a crisis pregnancy and working to save babies from abortion.

Attending the perpetual vows of Sister Gaudia Maria Magdalena of the Sisters of Life filled me with hope. It was deeply moving to see this thriving religious order of young consecrated women, with nary a wrinkled face among them, making vows ordered towards saving lives and rebuilding a culture of life.

I saw their beautiful, smiling faces. Their eyes were windows to pure, joy-filled souls. Their happiness in choosing this life was evident in the way they walked and talked. I loved being in their presence during the Mass.

God called religious orders into existence in the past to aid in the care and education of born children. He’s now called a new religious order into existence to save unborn children from death. A new need in the world required a new religious order. That’s why the Sisters of Life came into existence.

Witnessing Sister Gaudia’s vows gave me confidence that God has not abandoned his people in these times. He is still with us. He has raised up an order of consecrated religious sisters who are fighting for life. I have confidence that their prayers, sacrifices, and witness are crucial ingredients in ending abortion and making our country once more respectful of life in the womb.

I encourage you to watch the live stream of the event and be inspired. You can find that here.

God is indeed on the move and is raising up an army! People, like Sister Gaudia, are responding to his call.

It’s an exciting time to be alive and to witness what God is doing.

Never be afraid to be bold and daring for life because God is with us!
