Dear Maureen, I’m Pete Baklinski and this is your Canadian Pro-Life News Bits where I let you know what’s happening on our country’s pro-life and pro-family front.
It’s big news that the Saskatchewan government has temporarily suspended the anti-life and anti-family organization Planned Parenthood from presenting in the province’s schools. This happened after the pro-abortion organization made flashcards available to children that gave tips on how to perform harmful and perverted sexual acts.
Planned Parenthood corrupts children. It’s time to ban this organization entirely from all schools.
An alarming law has passed in New Brunswick that automatically opts in everyone to donate their organs and tissues at the end of life. The problem is that modern medicine has redefined the moment of death based on dubious criteria in order to harvest the freshest and most usable organs possible. What this means practically is that some people are not truly dead when their organs are harvested. It’s the organ harvesting that actually kills them.
It’s not hard to imagine the nightmare scenarios that will begin to take place in the province’s hospitals where families will be fighting to keep loved ones on life support while doctors will have already decided that the patient is “dead” so that the organ harvesters can come in and collect the organs in demand. It sounds like the setting for a dystopian novel.
The new leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia, MLA John Rustad, is publicly pushing back against the takeover by trans activists of public institutions supposed to help parents raise their children. He tweeted that he is “proud to stand with BC's women and girls, as well as parents and families.” CLC’s Jack Fonseca reports on this important development.
And, some more good news. The NHL is now banning “Pride” jerseys next season due to so many players refusing to wear them and taking to social media to express their opinions. It’s high time for sports to move away from backing ideological causes and to just focus on playing the game. Yes, it’s time for the NHL to get back to the “good ol’ hockey game.”
This week in the “Awesome pro-life social media posts”, I’ve included two tweets from Canadian Clinical Psychologist Jordan Peterson. He’s recently been coming out strongly against abortion. With his 4.4 million followers on Twitter, his statements are making a big impact. Bravo to Peterson!

Maureen, I read this week about the teenage girl from the UK who murdered her newborn son just hours after giving birth. There was a trial. She was found guilty and will be sent to jail for 12 years. Please pray for her.
The judge, when passing the sentence, told the young woman that “killing your baby son was a truly dreadful thing to do.”
The jury heard how the woman assaulted her newly born baby, named “Stanley” in the trial, leaving him with injuries comparable to those seen in a car crash. This included a crushed head.
When the baby did not immediately die from the trauma, the woman stuffed cotton balls down the baby’s throat to suffocate him before dumping him in a garbage bin by the front door.
The judge and jury rightfully recognized baby Stanley’s humanity. They recognized that he was a person, deserving of rights and protection, including the right to life. They recognized that a grave injustice had been committed against him when his mother decided to kill him.
Yet, if this same teenage girl had decided to exercise her “bodily autonomy,” and make a “reproductive health choice” called abortion, she would have been lauded as being “responsible” and doing the “right thing.”
If baby “Stanley” had been aborted late-term, his head would have been crushed by forceps and his arms and legs would have been ripped off, leaving him with injuries not comparable to anything else in this world.
And this is the crazy world we live in. As UK pro-life doctor Calum Miller pointed out about this matter: “So many abortion fanatics will condemn this woman but think that killing your 8 month old viable unborn baby should totally be legal.”
We need to work for a culture where babies like Stanley are valued in the womb as much as they are valued outside the womb.
I can’t help but think of words that Mother Teresa once said on this topic.
“But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child - a direct killing of the innocent child - murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?”
We’ve got lots of work ahead of us. But, a day will come, with God’s help, when babies in the womb everywhere will be valued and cherished for the true gifts that they are.
In the meantime, let us be bold and daring for life!
