Surrealist Collage

For this assignment, there were two things to do for it. Cut out and create a collage and then paint it. My first step to this was picking out magazines and cutting out different piece that I wanted to add to my collage. At first I wanted a theme of Maine but then I realized that it would be a challenge for me to paint. Instead I choose a bunch of different shapes and patterns with also a few different animals and things. I wanted it to be more of the colors and things that I liked. After I finally got everything that I wanted for my collage, I lied it out on the paper and placed it where I wanted it. After, I took a glue stick and began to glue all of my pieces on the paper.

After I finished that, I took the canvas paper that I was going to paint my collage with, and my collage and went to the light room to trace my collage onto the canvas paper so it would make it easier to paint. Then, once I was done with that I could start painting. It was quite a challenge for me to paint some of the things on the collage considering I'm not the best at painting and making things look realistic. I had quite a few problems with creating this, for example I couldn't get the colors to match and I had a hard time blending in the colors.

Overall, I think this project was harder than it looked because I don't think that it came out the way I wanted it to and I felt like I was rushing myself through the process of the whole project. So if I were to do this project again, I might pick different things to cut out and use for my painting and practicing techniques of blending the paint together so it doesn't look blotchy and it looks more realistic.
