Bloody Nose
For this assignment, I had previously made a few sketches using different perspectives rather than face on. However, I did not like the way the sketches came out so I continued with yet another face on painting. I knew if I was going to stick with face on painting I should add more detail and character on what's happening in the image. So, for this, I decided to create a bloody nose.
The materials I used for this were acrylic paint and ink pens on sketch paper. I didn't think it would work on sketch paper but it's what I had at the moment. After I had sketched my idea and began painting I didn't like the way the paint was mixing with the brush I was using at the time so most of the blending on the work is done by my fingers. I liked that techniques better and found it easier in the ned. I liked the look of some spots not completely blended where you can see where two colors meet but others are blended nicely together. I also noticed that the mouth and teeth area is similar to the last piece and I like keeping it the way with the two front teeth showing.
Overall, I like the way this sustained investigation came out because although I didn't get to experiment much with different perspectives, I got to paint in different ways and I liked the technique I used and will continue to use it in the future.
