For my second scholastics project, I decided I wanted to create something other than the few prompts. I like drawing people and I like shading even more so I thought why not give this a shot. I took a picture of Sydney Silva and decided to go off of that.
To start off, I printed and gridded the photo of sydney as well as gridded my paper. The materials I used for this project were , pencils, charcoal pencils, charcoal, tortillons all on graphite paper. I started by making the main outlines of her body throughout the gridded paper. This was it was an easy way to go about and it was easy for me to know where to starts. After drawing all the little details, pretty much all that was left to do was the shading. My ideas are visually evident in the because as you can see in the picture it is similar and showing her happy and smiling.
Overall, I am pleased with the way this piece turned out, I think I had improvement with my shading skills and my skills of drawing people because facial features can be extremely difficult. However, after looking at it for quite some time, I realized there is work that could have been done to it. If I had to change something about it, I would want to change the shading of the background and even out the shading of her face.
