Sustained Investigation #11

5" x 6"

watercolor

For my sustained investigation number 12, I wanted to create a new drawing and branch out from mainly drawing females and try to draw a male. I wanted to branch out from making it look realistic and I wanted to add more of a cartoon effect so I decided to go back to using my knowledge from foundations of art by using a blind contour effect on it with keeping the lines on the paper and not lifting up my material which gives the cartoon puppet effect and I really like that style.

I to start off I sketched out my drawing and then I went in with the watercolor and lastly went over with black Sharpie to define the lines add the cartoon character look. My ideas are visually evident in this piece because his hand is covering his mouth showing some sort of shock from hearing something, or keeping something to yourself showing some sort of reaction or emotion to draw the audience to raise questions or ideas.

Overall for my first time doing in more of a cartoon look for my sustained investigation I think it could have turned out better and I need to keep pushing myself to dig deeper and practice with my materials more to get exactly what i'm looking for in my sustained investigation.
