Pumpkin Carving

For the assignment in class today, I got the opportunity to carve pumpkins for a good cause. Firstly, I went outside to chose my pumpkin. I didn't want my pumpkin to be too big because I knew that my design wouldn't take up that much space but I also didn't want my pumpkin to be too small. However, to get started I put an apron on and then began to cut the top off of the pumpkin. I then scooped out all the guts and seeds. I started off with a spoon but found it much easier to use my hands even though it was very cold. For my design, I wanted it to be Halloween related because it seems necessary. I wanted to incorporate the moon and stars or something similar to that. So I ended up deciding to do mountains with the moon and stars.

The materials I used were mainly just a small carving tool and then I used a bigger one to cut the top of the pumpkin. I also used a pencil to make the stars because the other tools made the holes too big. Anyways, I really like how my pumpkin design turned out especially in the short amount of time that I had. If I were to do something different with it I think I would plan out my tools ahead and how I was going to make the stars because there are a few spots that are different from the pencil mark stars. Other than that I really liked the way my pumpkin turned out.
