Leaf Project

For this assignment the task was to go outside and choose a leaf of some sort and create a close up art piece of it. Once I had chosen my leaf I taped it to a piece of paper and then cut out the part of the leaf that I wanted to use to create my piece. The materials I used for my leaf project was acrylic paint. i chose this because I wanted it to be dark and bold to pop out more like an actual leaf rather than just using colored pencils. In the beginning of my project I was going to draw a different thing, almost like a flower but I then found that It would be to difficult to make if it were zoomed in and it would have looked like a bunch of random lines. Therefore I chose this leaf because I liked the patterns on it and the different shapes of the leaves.

While creating this piece I had some struggles trying to make it the way that I wanted. at first my brush strokes were fine and they stayed inside the lines I had drawn with my pencil, but then then I accidentally painted some leaves too skinny or too wide but I made it work so it actually didn't turn out too bad. I also got water on one part of the leaf and as you can see above there are a couple of lighter brown spots which at first I was mad at but then I started to realize that it made the leaf look more realistic. Overall, I am proud of the work I have created, however, I wish that I knew how to make the detailed lines one the leaf more realistic.
