Independent Project

This assignment was my last assignment of the year. Therefore, I got to choose out of all the assignments we have done through the year to do again. For this, I chose to do blind contour drawings as you can see above. When I first decided to do blind contour drawings, I knew that I was going to do more than one because I had time to and they're also really fun.

The materials I used for this project was a pencil to draw my blind contour drawing, sharpie to go over it and make it darker, canvas paper, and water color paint. I was originally going to used acrylic paint but then I realized that it would cover up the sharpie. So I used watercolor instead because I liked the idea of the paint going over the sharpie so you could see the drawing under it. Before I actually started my final project, I took regular paper to practice and get an idea of what animals or people I wanted to draw; in this case, people After practicing for a bit, I took the canvas paper and began drawing. I ended up drawing fiver different faces. I then went over them in sharpie and then got water color to paint my faces.

Before painting, I wanted my blind contour drawings to all be different from each other and I went on Pinterest to look at ideas of how people painted their blind contour drawings. I was inspired by one of the drawings that had different shapes around it so I wanted to do something similar. As you can see above I chose a few different shapes and colors. For the rest of the drawings I just went with the flow and painted them and I like the way they came out. After I was finished I noticed that there was still a lot of white space on the paper so I decided to cut out my drawings into individuals.

Overall, I really liked doing the blind contour drawings again I forgot how fun and easy they are to do. They're a really cool kind of art because it kind of ties in with abstract art and thats what I like about it because it's not supposed to look perfect. Anyway, I am very happy with the way my last project came out. I think they're better than the ones I've done before. I really enjoyed doing these and I would like to continue to do these in the future in my free time.
