Sustained Investigation #13

Aynslie's Purple Hair

7.5" x 10"

Acrylic on Canvas

For my sustained investigation number 13 I decided to do another portrait but I wanted to change it up somehow because I felt like I wasn't really going anywhere and they were just looking all the same. I decided for this portrait I would continue to play with perspective and also switch out the color palette.

I started off by using a photo reference of a picture of Aynslie that I had and really liked and I sketched that out. once I had my sketch done, I was immediately ready to start painting. I chose to do acrylic paint because I really like the way that it looks and I like the way that can be blended and how that can look. I started off by painting the background like the bunch of different blues and purples and kind of mixed them together. Next, I went in with her face and I did that kind of a bluish, light green and yellow look. Then I went in doing her hair and realized I didn't have a lot of pain left so it was kind of a purpley, blue pink that blended in with the background a little bit. Lastly, I just left her shirt black to just keep it solid.

Overall I am really proud of the way that this turned out and it's different than what I would normally do which I like. However I wish her face wasn't as green as it turned out or at least done her front color because something just seemed a little bit off of the colors but I want to continue to use different color palette like this.
