Sorrowful

For my sustained investigation number three, I wanted to continue to play with perspective. As the previous artwork with the circles added to the cheeks, I wanted to continue that cartoon shape look with this one. As you can see I made tear puddles on her cheeks.

To start off this piece, I made a few different sketches until I was satisfied with the one I had and wanted to continue further with it. The materials I used for this piece were acrylic paint and ink pens on regular paper. I started off by mixing blue colors and and painting over the base of the face. I then went it with other mixed blue to add the shadows in different areas. I wanted to sort of keep the darker, cooler color theme, so I decided to make the hair a gray color as well as using black to add to the shadows. My favorite part of making this was the eyes and the tear puddles on the face, I think that adds a lot to the piece to really show what is trying to be portrayed.

Overall, I am really proud of the way this came out. I really liked the idea of it and I think it went smoothly. However, I think if I were to paint again,I would try to use different paper, possibly canvas or mixed media. I believe practice painting on canvas paper would be better for me because I have avoiding practicing it bit intend to get better at it.
