Extended Blind Contour

Extended Blind Contour Drawing

"Color Craze"

For this assignment we focus on blind contour. I am familiar with this project because I have dont it in my previous art class of Foundations of art. Extended Blind contour was my favorite art projects I had done so when it was brought back into AP art I was very excited. As you can see above, we drew two faces and then the skeleton which is below.

The materials I used for this piece were colored pencils, markers and pens. I started off by coloring in the faces with colorful bright colors. I then realized I wanted the background to be really crazy and colorful as well. So I got a ruler and created this line perspective drawing towards the middle and added all different colors in it. This took awhile to color in everything, but it didn't bother me because I found it very relaxing and fun. When I was done with all the colored pencil, I went over in black pen to retrace the lines. Lastly, I drew in more mushrooms of my own not including the blind contour to add more fun and design to it. I used markers for the mushrooms because I wanted them to be slightly darker and stand out more.

Overall, I am really proud of the way this piece came out because I think it really expresses me and my art. I like color and I also love the way messy art looks like the blind contour for example because it is not supposed to look accurate. I also like the idea of making the audience or whoever is looking at the art, question it and wonder what they see in it. Something I would do differently for next time is to add a border.
