Donate Life

For this assignment, the project was based around organ and tissue donation. Therefore the idea was to create a piece that shows it weather it's literal or metaphorically. To go along with the piece, a quote was to be added to the piece to finalize it and give the piece sense to show how this resembles organ and tissue donation. As you can see above, I chose to make my project with sunflowers and spread the message metaphorically.

The materials I used for this project was canvas paper, watercolor and pencil. I started off with watercolor paper, and I drew out my sketch on it with pencil. After I was done with the sketch I moved on to the water color but it started to get clumpy and I didn't like the way it was turning out so I changed to canvas paper. I thought it was weird because I have used watercolor paper before so I knew how much water to add. However, it wasn't much of a problem switching to canvas paper, it just had a different texture to it. Also the watercolor would come off if it was accidentally smudged so that's why there is a few white spots. I drew the sketches on the canvas paper, which I new it would have been harder to erase on canvas paper which it was but I tried to solve it by painting over it.

Overall, I think my piece could be better and I wish it was on a different type of paper or if I had used different materials because I have been using watercolor for most of my projects. I feel that I need to branch out with it because there are so many other opportunities for materials. Although the canvas paper wasn't bad, I wish I had chosen either different paper or different paint because I think I could have looked more realistic.
