Time Capsules

Time Capsules

Time Capsules is yet another familiar exercise art prompt. The three prompts for the time capsules were to draw something that symbolizes your past, future, and a zoomed in part of you. Starting from the left, The sunflower is what I drew to symbolize my future.I drew my eye for a zoomed in part of myself and lastly my stuffed animal dog that I've had since I was born to symbolize as my past. For these 3 time capsules I used colored pencils for all of them and regular sketch paper. I started by drawing my eye first because I really like making eyes and I want to be able to get better. I really liked the blending of the eye and then I had decided to go in with black pen to do the eyelashes and eyebrows and then I accidentally smudged the skin tone as you can see above. Other than that, I really liked the way the eye looked with the blending.

Secondly, I drew my stuffed animal sitting on the bed as a reference to my past. Since I have had this stuffed animal for so long, I thought it was appropriate to draw. I started by sketching it out laying on the bed and then I went in with gray and black tones to shade it and lastly added blue and green colors to show the bed sheets and pillow more. again, I liked the way this looked but the white streaks always find a way to show through so I think I could've worked around that a little more. As for the sunflower resembling my future, I really didn't know what I wanted to do for this. Thus because I don't really know anything specific that is going to resemble my future however sunflowers have always had a special place in my heart because they reminded me of perseverance and happiness. The only things I wish I had done differently is made the background better because I could have made it more about my future.

Overall, I like the way the eye came out somewhat and I like the idea of the sunflower, However, moving forward from this, I want to be more creative with my backgrounds and learn to play around with colored pencil more as well as being careful with black pens and making sure they do not smudge.
