Multimedia Drawing

For this assignment I was assigned to choose a photo from my camera roll, specifically black and white. The photo needed to be black and white because the materials that were going to be used was charcoal, ink and graphite. The picture I choose to draw for the multimedia drawing was a picture of my puppy, Duck. After I had printed the picture out, I started by gridding my drawing paper to the exact measurement. After that, I drew the outline of the dog. I found it easier for me to draw the outline first instead of just going square by square because I thought it would blend better and look less boxy in my opinion. Since I had to use all the materials, I didn’t use the ink for much of my project because the ink is so dark and I didn’t have too many dark places so I used the ink for the nose and part of his mouth on my puppy.

I chose to draw this picture not only because it was in black and white but because I wanted to test my skills on drawing animals and I thought it would be fun and somewhat challenging to draw. I had to think wisely what I materials I was going to use for the parts of the dog. I tried to use the ink first because you can only use the ink in class so that way I could have it done and do my charcoal and graphite outside of class if I needed to. My project evolved by just drawing the outline of the dog and taking time and looking at the aspect of each square and drawing it correctly. I mostly just had to revise the eyes on my puppy to make sure they were aligned right.

I don’t really have an exact story behind why I drew this but I’m really glad I did because it’s a really cute picture and makes a really nice drawing. This is a part of my life because it’s a drawing of my dog which means a lot to me because I love dogs as well as my puppy. I’m proud most of the accuracy and the outline of the dog and the shading is well done and decently blended. One thing I struggled the most with was drawing the eyes on the puppy, I kept having to redoing it because I could not make it accurate enough and make the eyes look normal. Overall, basically the only thing that really bothers me is the face but besides that I’m proud of my artwork.
