Welcome To The New World
Graphite and Acrylic Paint
For my drawing together assignment, the task was to create something that reminded you of the times that were are facing and what the corona virus impact has had on you. I decided I wanted to use a photo of myself that I took with a mask on. I had never worn a mask before because I never had a solid reason to. Seeing everyone wearing them felt so weird and made me realize what we are living in.
I started off with going of the photo reference with a pencil sketch and then when I started blending I realized I haven't used that material in a while and I want to get better at it especially when creating portraits. The materials I used are pencil, tortillion, an acrylic paint. My ideas are visually evident in this piece because it shows the new reality of the world by showing the understanding of masks as a new necessity to everyone. In addition to that, I thought the text on the mask would add a good message to my art because it makes a statement and shows that this is real and it's how we have to live now.
Overall, I am not totally satisfied with the way my art came out. I have been working on portraits for a while and this one turned out not how I imagined. It's always been difficult for me to get good at drawing eyes and making them look realistic. So with that, I didn't really like the whole things because of the eye
