For this assignment, I completed my first Sustained Investigation for AP Studio Art. My concentration is focused on human portraits expressing everyday common emotions through colors. I did something similar to this ;ast year in my art class but I really like creating portraits and want to continue to get better at it so I decided to further my focus into it.

I wanted to make something about confidence. I did not want to use myself as a reference but I had found an image that I liked with bold make up on and I thought it would fit the project. I sed colored pencils on drawing paper for this investigation. I started off but sketching out the face and facial structures with pencil. I later went in with the colored pencils and started sketching the face and using a tortillion to blend it. I decided to go with purple for the background because I thought it would be cool to match the makeup.

Overall I am somewhat please with how this came out. However, colored pencils its not my strongest subject so I found the blending pretty difficult and there seemed to be some white space peaking through. I would like to try to edit it and keep layering the colored pencils until the white sauce is gone and continue to blend with the tortillion.
