Stress Relief

For my second Sustained investigation, I decided I wanted to do something with anxiety or relieving it. I wanted to use multiple colors instead of a realistic face because I like the look of the colors moving on the paper with the clear brush strokes. I also wanted to play with perspective. As you can see, the head is tilted back, resembling to let go, take a breath, and relieve your stress.

To start off my assignment, I sketched out the head and facial features of the piece. This was a relatively smaller piece than my other works so I had to be proportional with the facial features. The material I used for this project was acrylic paint on mixed media paper. I didn't really go with a color theme, I wanted to just play around with what I had and it turned out decent. I also added gray circles to the cheeks for a personal addition. Sometimes it was difficult to get the exact brush stroke I was looking for to show the feeling of the painting, but it is important to have patience.

Overall, I am proud of the way this project turned out, I think it shows the kind of art that I like as well as the personal details added. Looking forward, I want to continue my art in the style of not making it look super realistic but instead showing the movement of the colors through the brush.
