State Museum-Preserve «Tauric Chersonese»

The exhibition of holograms has been operating for more than thirty years and tells not only about the history of Chersonesos, but also about the ancient peoples who once inhabited the expanses of the Northern Black Sea region and the East European Plain.

Translated from Greek, the word "hologram" means "full description, record." For the first time this term was proposed by the inventor of the holographic recording, an English scientist of Hungarian origin, Denis Gabor.

With the help of waves emitted by a laser, a three-dimensional image of an object is recorded on a thick-layer emulsion.

The Chersonesos Reserve became one of the first museums in the CIS, on the basis of which holographic copies of ancient objects were created.

The holographic method makes it possible to create new memory systems and volumetric color television, information coding and much more. So, using this method, we were able to acquaint visitors with many unique relics of museums. Their images are visually almost indistinguishable from the originals.

The exhibition features holographic copies of household items, cults and jewelry that are kept in various museums. One of them is a pectoral - a breast ornament of a Scythian king, made by ancient Greek masters in the 4th century. BC. made of pure gold.
