According to the expert, for the first time archaeologists and volunteers helping them got access to the "Valley of the Kings" - a region near the Tuvan tract Sausken, where the burial grounds of the Scythian rulers are located.

“Only this shift was lucky, it is this change that will reveal the secret of the Valley of the Kings itself. We are in it for only one season, and next year we are moving to another place, because it is necessary for the construction of the railway,” Solovyova said.

The expert also noted that on Monday the RGS expedition handed over 978 restored artifacts found in the excavation zone to the Kyzyl Historical Museum.

A series of archaeological expeditions of the Russian Geographical Society, which began in 2011, will end next year. During this time, scientists, assisted by volunteers, are conducting excavations along the route of the Kyzyl-Kuragino railway under construction. This year the expedition consists of two camps - "Valley of the Kings" and "Ermak" in the Ermakovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. During the preparation for the 2013 season, the organizers received about 1.5 thousand applications from volunteers who wanted to help archaeologists, but only 600 volunteers from 30 countries were selected.
