Archaeologists of South Kazakhstan have discovered a golden sensation. Unique fragments of history were kept in the suburbs of Shymkent. Scientists assure that it is simply a miracle that they managed to find gold discs in one of the graves.

An unusual find can turn history, archaeologists say. Now they are sure that the ancient Saks lived on the territory of modern Shymkent. This is confirmed by the list of artifacts: a stone seal, a copper bell, a gold bead.

“The most valuable thing for us is gold discs. Judging by the iconography of the two gold objects, they were made in Greco-Roman times. Perhaps, by those peoples who knew the sea, the ocean. There is a story about fish and other trades. Now we have to find out how these items could get to the Sakas. It's very interesting, ”says the director of the Institute of Archeology named after A. Margulana Bauyrzhan Baitanaev.

Students and researchers have witnessed the golden sensation. They immediately saw that the artifacts depicted a seahorse and an octopus. The gold discs were found in a burial mound where two people were buried. Scientists speculate that one skeleton belongs to a man. His bones were scattered by robbers. A slave woman lay next to him.

“It is interesting that in the 4-2 centuries BC the Saks could not depict these marine life. Perhaps this is a symbiosis of the Saka and Sarmatian cultures. This has never happened here. The Sarmatians lived in the west, and the Saks lived in the Semirechye. This is something new for our culture, ”explains a researcher at the Institute of Archeology. A. Margulana Anatoly Shayakhmetov.

According to scientists, the found discs could be a war trophy or evidence of trade and economic relations. This mystery has yet to be solved. Archaeologists have uncovered only four of the eight burial mounds so far. But the archaeological finds discovered in Shymkent could change the history of Kazakhstan.
