Among the items that form the basis of the collection of precious metals are jewelry, horse harness parts, gold and silver tableware, weapons that have no analogues in the collections of museums around the world. The world-class value is the works of art of the most striking stage in the ancient history of the don - items from burial mounds of the first century ad, discovered as a result of archaeological research in the Rostov region. A significant part of the collection of precious metals of the Azov Museum-reserve consists of finds from the burials of Sarmatian nomads. Special attention of specialists and visitors is attracted by a unique archaeological complex discovered in 1986 in one of the mounds on the South-Eastern outskirts of Azov, near the dacha village, by the archaeological team of the Azov Museum (burial mound "Dachi", mound 1, cache 1, excavations of E. I. bespalogo, I. N. Parusimov, 1986). the Richest set of horse harness gives an idea of the evolution of horse equipment in the Sarmatian era. The entire complex is a rare, extremely beautiful work of art. The result of many years of work on the acquisition, restoration, reconstruction of objects of ancient material culture was the opening of the exhibition "Treasures of the nomads of Eurasia"in the Azov Museum-reserve. A special feature of the current exhibition is the presentation of material by archaeological complexes. Time frame: III Millennium BC - XIV centuries ad. the exhibition presents 16529 Museum items, including 15352 items containing precious metals. In addition to items from archaeological excavations, the precious metals collection contains numismatic items (coins, orders, tokens, medals, plaques), religious items, dishes, and costume elements.
