Institute for Applied Museology
The National History Museum was established on the 5 of May, 1973. It holds more than 650 000 monuments and vast archaeological and historical archives.The first exhibition of the museum opened in 1984 in the Palace of Justice in an area of 10 000 sq.m. . In 2000, NHM was moved to the foothills of the Vitosha Mountain - in the former building № 1 of the government residence. Through more than 10 000 exhibits on an area of about 6000 square meters, it presents the history of the Bulgarian lands (from the VII millennium BC. until the mid-twentieth century.). The museum has a wonderful park with a lapidarium.
