Institute for Applied Museology

The National History Museum was established on the 5 of May, 1973. It holds more than 650 000 monuments and vast archaeological and historical archives.The first exhibition of the museum opened in 1984 in the Palace of Justice in an area of ​​10 000 sq.m. . In 2000, NHM was moved to the foothills of the Vitosha Mountain - in the former building № 1 of the government residence. Through more than 10 000 exhibits on an area of ​​about 6000 square meters, it presents the history of the Bulgarian lands (from the VII millennium BC. until the mid-twentieth century.). The museum has a wonderful park with a lapidarium.
