Exposition "Memory of centuries" / Експозиция „Памет от векове”

The exhibition was opened on October 10, 2013. on the occasion of 135 years of museum work and 100 years since the founding of the Sliven Historical Museum. It is located on the first and second floors of the building

It includes original monuments from the museum's collection, some of which are of world importance and related to the life of the population from Sliven from the Neolithic to the Second Bulgarian State inclusive. The main principle of exposure is thematic-chronological.

The earliest traces of life in the region of Sliven are from the Neolithic Age (7000 - 5000 BC), as evidenced by the exposed clay plaster and chromel from the Neolithic, cult figurines, stone hammers and carpenters. From the Eneolithic (Stone-Copper) and Bronze Ages are represented pottery, with the typical for that time forms, bronze axes and a necklace of wild boar teeth.

Interesting with their specific clay and metal vessels, objects made of precious metal from the Thracian culture are exhibited in the small hall on the first floor. The exhibits from the tomb in the village of Kaloyanovo are also exhibited here.

The concept of presenting the tombs as a kind of cultural text was developed on the second floor. In one of the halls are exhibited objects found in the tomb of a Thracian aristocrat - red-figure pottery with scenes from Greek mythology, a gold funeral mask, gold phials, a gold ring with an inscription, a silver helmet, silver gilded rhytons with images of mythological characters, horse decoration ammunition.

The life of the Thracians during the Roman era is presented in two halls with its characteristic clay vessels, a unique clay rhyton (ram), a bronze lamp and a chandelier. The votive tablets of the Thracian horseman and the fragments of marble statues illustrate the main cults of that time. Numerous jewelry made of gold and silver, bronze statues and medical instruments complete the idea of life of people from the Roman era.

In the separate hall "Tuida" are shown objects found during excavations in the late antique and medieval fortress Tuida (Suida, Tsoida) in the present-day town of Sliven. The main accent is the marble pedestal with an inscription in ancient Greek, in which the name of the fortress is established. Exhibited are many bone objects, late antique and medieval pottery, clay lamps, a unique wax candle from the VI century, iron tools, floor mosaic of baptistery, located in the fortress.
