When managing your advertising accounts, you use Backpack as your main platform. However, there are instances where you need to make changes within advertising partners, like Facebook or Google. To facilitate this process, you can use our reverse sync tool to pull updates from these partners into Backpack. Additionally, reverse sync allows you to bring in new campaigns that were not originally created within Backpack.
In This Article:
Using reverse sync in Backpack involves three main steps:
Configure your preferences.
(Optional) Lock fields you don't want overwritten.
Initiative a reverse sync.
Let's explore each of these steps below.
Go to Manage in the top menu.
Choose an Account from the list.
Click Account Settings on the top-right side of the window.
Within the account settings drawer, go to the Basic tab.
Under Reverse Sync, select your preference from three options:
Manually pull from partners. This option pulls in new changes when you click Tools > Pull From Partners. Note: If set to manually pull, Backpack will bring in any campaigns with advertising spend/impressions as read-only campaigns.
Automatically pull from partners. Reverse sync occurs every evening (between 1–6 a.m. ET) with connected advertising channels. Changes made during the day will reflect in the next reverse sync.
Never allow pull from partners. This disables reverse sync, and Backpack will only push information to advertising channels.
If your campaign is linked to a Blueprint, you may want to lock the field to prevent unwanted changes by a reverse sync.
Back in the account in Manage, click Tools in the top-right and choose Pull From Partners from the dropdown.
Confirm by clicking Yes I'm sure.
Backpack will then search for new or changed content for that account within its advertising partner(s) and sync those updates.
Tip: To review your reverse sync history, access reverse sync logs by going to Activity & Logs > Reverse Sync Logs or Insights > Reverse Sync Logs.
Expand the rows below for exceptions to the typical reverse sync process for Microsoft and Facebook
While Microsoft Audience (Display) and Performance Max campaigns can be reverse synced in Backpack, you cannot create them or their ads directly within the platform. However, budget management remains available for these campaigns, just like for other channels.
Ads in Facebook are only synced once. If changes are made in Facebook, they will not update in Backpack. Instead, make the necessary changes to the ad in Backpack. When syncing campaigns with mixed budget types in the ad sets, consider the following:
If both lifetime and monthly budgets are active and the end date hasn't passed (-90 days), only the monthly budget ad sets will sync. This will create a monthly budget assigned to the campaign.
If all monthly budgets are paused and/or the end date has passed, the lifetime budgeted ad set will sync in, and a lifetime budget will be assigned to the campaign.
The budget for the campaign will be determined using the most relevant ad sets budgets—generally active ad sets.
