Negative keywords are essential for avoiding unwanted clicks by preventing your ads from showing up for certain searches. You can use negative keywords at the campaign and ad group levels, depending on your strategy. Blueprints automatically use "phrase match" if no syntax is defined. You can also use Blueprint tags to generate many negative keywords for your campaigns and ad groups at once.

Go to Manage in the top menu in Backpack.
Click on an account in the list.
Click the Campaigns tab and select a campaign.
Click Campaign Settings located toward the top right of the window.
Select the Negative Keywords tab to view a list of negative keywords and any associated Blueprint shared sets.
To manually add a new negative keyword, click + Add Keyword.
Enter the keyword, choose a match type, and click Add.
To delete a negative keyword, hover over the word and click the trash can icon .
Click Bulk Edit to pull up your list of keywords and edit them all at once. Use the following syntax to apply match type:
|exact kw|
broad match kw
"phrase match kw"

Click View Search Queries to access a list of search queries and their corresponding keywords, sorted by cost.
Identify terms that are consuming a significant portion of your ad spend.
For irrelevant search terms, select the checkboxes next to them, and click the Add as Negative Keywords button located in the bottom right corner of your screen.
Note: Negatives will be added as phrase match by default.
Go to Blueprints in the top menu.
Select a Blueprint and a specific campaign.
Expand the Targeting & Negative Keywords dropdown.
Add negative keywords to the Negative Keywords field, using the match type syntax noted above.
