Uphill Marching
Goal
Arms and legs move smoothly and opposite.
Helps when a skier's arms do not move parallel to direction of travel or they have difficulty coordinating opposite arm and leg movements.
Details
Herringbone up with no poles. Promote arms swinging freely from the shoulder, in a back to front rhythm.
If skiers have difficulty coordinating opposite arm and leg, start in a flat area marching forward with skis straight. Then as you approach an incline, start turning out the ski tips progressively with each step into a herringbone.
