Find the Button

Goal

Feeling where on the foot the point of pressure should be to maximize grip or ski pressure on the snow.

Helps when a skier's COM is not over their forefoot. Their body is too far forward or back to establish solid grip. They need to learn how their body position impacts the pressure point on their foot for grip and how to adjust that with terrain changes.

Details

On one ski, in an athletic stance, balance on the ball of the foot (button) to feel the grip zone grab the snow. Rock forward and back to feel the shift in stability. Balanced too far forward? Ski slides back. Balanced too far back? Ski slips forward. Balanced on the button? Feel the grip zone grab the snow.

Progression: Try it on the move with both skis. Try it on a slight uphill.
