J-turns

Goal

The skier forms a wedge by rotating both legs, steering the skis along the desired arc resulting in more pressure on the outside ski.

Helps when a skier needs to better manage speed and turn shape.

Details

Starting in the fall line using a small wedge, have skiers gradually increase how much how much of the hill they use as they turn across the hill, finishing with their skis parallel. Then have skiers increase their speed as they turn across the hill.Their track on the snow makes a letter “ J.” Try both directions.
