Tick-tock
Goal
Ankle, knee, hip and torso align to balance over a flat ski. For herringbone, diagonal skate and free skate, leg push is lateral with both legs pushing equally.
Helps when a skier has trouble moving onto a gliding ski. Weight/COM stays in the middle.
Details
Without poles. Rock from ski to ski like a metronome or pendulum. Cue: 'tick-tock'.
Progression: balance on one ski while the opposite ski is off the ground. Next hold the balanced position on one ski for 2-5 seconds.
Variation for balance: Experiment with body position. Nose, hip, and thigh aligned over the glide ski? Are the ankles and knees softly bent?
Variation for propulsion: Focus on the lateral leg push.
