Hip Check
Goal
Leg push is lateral, with both legs pushing equally. Leg force is generated by flexing all joints, followed by a quick extension that projects the COM forward and across onto the other ski.
Helps when a skier rotates hips when skating.
Details
Ski while holding poles horizontally across the front of hips.
If the poles swing forward and back like a kayak paddle, the ski push is too far behind or backwards rather than lateral. If poles move from side to side, leg push is adequately to the side.
