Falling Leaf
Goal
The skier's COM moves to the inside of the turn (angulation) to increase the edge angle of each ski to grip the snow.
Helps when a skier is too static. The skier needs to feel the extremes of COM too far forward or back so they may adapt as the terrain requires.
Details
The skier faces across the slope in the athletic stance. They move their COM forward and the ski moves forward. They turn slightly uphill to stop. They then move their COM back which results in the ski moving backwards. They turn slightly uphill, backwards to stop. Demonstrate the task then have the skiers try it. THEN discuss. Too much description at the front end is confusing. Have the skier experience the sensation.
