Hop Skate
Goal
The ski is flat when it contacts the snow. Leg force is generated by flexing all joints, followed by a quick extension that projects the COM forward and across onto the other ski.
Helps when a skier has trouble balancing on one ski, or flexing and extending while balanced on one ski.
Details
Without poles, the skier hops on each ski during the glide phase (skate, hop, skate, hop). If using poles and one skate, the hop occurs at poling initiation.
