Knee High

Goal

The foot lands using a strong downward action. Recovery leg swings forward.

Helps when a skier loses grip on a steep uphill.

Details

On steeper terrain with good grip have skier run up the hill. Focus on lifting the knees high with each stride and forcefully driving the foot down onto the snow. Listen for the “smack” sound from the ski onto the snow.

Work on steeper terrain and notice the effort required. Transition the activity to using only the amount of knee lift to achieve the desired grip.
