Legs Only Pyramid
Goal
Tempo is adjusted according to resistance (slope/snow conditions) to maintain forward momentum.
Helps when a skier tries to force foot away from COM before standing on it.
Details
Set two markers, one at the bottom and one near the top of a hill; about 20-30 metres apart.
Free Skate uphill, counting how many strides taken between the cones. On the second pass, skiers try to add strides; this should result in a smaller range of motion and higher tempo.
Keep adding strides with every pass (short & fast strides). When the number of strides are maxed out, then skiers take passes decreasing the number of strides until they feel comfortable maintaining momentum.

Note: Tasks can be adapted to different manoeuvres, skills, and skiers. Try them. Be creative.
