Scooter
Goal
Leg force is generated by flexing all joints, followed by a quick extension that projects the COM forward and across onto the other ski.
Helps when a skier has trouble balancing on one gliding ski.
Details
Without poles, and with only one ski on, balance on the foot without the ski, then push onto the ski, balance and glide.
Choose the glide track and foot position carefully to avoid damaging the track set. Practice on both sides.
Variation 1: On gentle uphill terrain, use only the stride phase, pushing with one leg only. Focus on feeling the joints flex and extend to provide a solid push.
Variation 2: Back on flatter terrain, at the end of the glide, stay forward on the ski and land your foot in front of the gliding foot.
