Big Dip / Little Dip
Goal
Leg force is generated by flexing all joints, followed by a quick extension that projects the COM forward and across onto the other ski.
Helps when a skier has trouble getting grip in the Step phase. They are missing the pre-load
Details
Skier demonstrates a big dip (of the upper body) during Double Pole, and a little dip (ankles, knees, hips) during the kick. Both dips are required to generate power. Watch for the second dip. Have skiers call out Big Dip and Little Dip as they perform each. Work in pairs and ask skiers to spot their partner's Big Dip and Little Dip.
