Hands Up
Goal
At feet-together position the COM is ahead of the ankle joint. Leg force is generated by flexing all joints, followed by a quick extension that projects the COM forward and across onto the other ski.
Helps balance when a skier tries to push off a straight leg.
Helps propulsion when a skier needs to extend range of motion for power.
Details
While on a gliding ski, without poles, bring both arms forward into a hand starting position. As arms swing backwards and hands pass hips, the skier flexes all joints, then projects COM forward and laterally onto the new glide ski. Repeat, moving from one ski to the other.
