Season Summary
The 2014-15 season was a strong rebuilding year. The team made good progress with new recruits and the team showed a lot of potential in the years to come. The attitudes of the team to push through and make the most of their time on the court has made it a good season. Although it was a difficult year, the guys can look back and gain a new appreciation for the technicality of the sport and also a new appreciation for teamwork.
Player highlights of the season included seeing freshman Pablo Yuste, Jorge Rios-Martinez, and Tommaso Pespani really step up and earn their playing time. They just enjoyed playing and it was great to see their improvement. Misheel Bayarsaikhan and Eugene Mok represented the sophomore class. As a couple of the few returners, they really stepped up to fill in big shoes left by the 2014 graduates. Their improvement was incredible and both will be players to look out for in the future. Three of the junior players that were new to the team but irreplaceable this season were Tomas Maxian, Daniel Yi, and Xavier Sawyer. They never ceased to entertain and made the trip to Malaysia for ACSC that much better. Captains Josh and Sam did a great job of leading the young team to be competitive. Both really stepped up into the role of co-captain and strived to make every person better. Their leadership skills and heart for the team were among the best of any previous volleyball captains. Sole senior, Sam, will be definitely be missed next year. Finally, this team would not be complete without the addition of Coach Walker to the team. He was a great support to the players and encouraged them to be better. Coach Craig Mooi was very proud of this team and looks forward to the coming years.
