Season Summary
YISS Track & Field Boys’ Team was led this year by Senior Captains Jayden Lee, Ansu Lee, David Lee, Nathan Cho, and Nathan Kim. The season began with a 2nd place team finish at HHS Meet #1. Podium finishers at the meet include Jayden Lee (200m), David Lee (800m), Andrew Lee (110m Hurdles), and a closely battled victory in the 4x800m Relay (David Lee, Nadav Tal, Nathan Cho, Dylan Lee).
For the second meet on April 6th, the Guardians came out strong with standout performances in the 800m (David Lee), 110m Hurdles (Andrew Lee) and Triple Jump (Andrew Lee).
At the KAIAC Championships, the Boys team had several personal bests and top finishes. Andrew Lee became KAIAC Champion in the Triple Jump and broke the school record with a distance of 11.04m. David Lee broke the school record in the 3200m with a time of 11:30.58. The SMR 800 Relay team (Jayden Lee, Souhoon Lee, Ansu Lee, Nadav Tal) also broke the school record. Podium finishes included Ansu Lee (High Jump), David Lee (800m), and Andrew Lee (110m Hurdles, Triple Jump).
In our much anticipated return to the ACSC Meet hosted by Morrison Academy in Taiwan, the boys team had the opportunity to see their season’s hard work pay off. They started things off by leading a sports day for special needs students as part of the ACSC service project. For Friday afternoon’s events, David Lee broke the school record in the 800m to become ACSC champion in the event. Other podium finishes included Nathan Cho in the 5000m.
Saturday was a busy and successful day for the Guardian boys with impressive performances culminating in a 3rd place team finish for the ACSC Meet. David Lee continued his school record-breaking performances with ACSC victories in the 1500m and 3000m. Other podium finishes include Jayden Lee (100m) and the 4x400m Relay team (Ansu Lee, David Lee, Nathan Cho, Jayden Lee). All- ACSC honors were given to Jayden Lee and David Lee.
The final event of the season was the annual YISS Staff vs. Student Meet. Senior athletes were recognized and the boys team had one last chance to show their speed and distance skills against the staff and parents. Senior Jayden Lee was the top individual points earner for the event.
