Season Summary
The 20-21 season was a difficult season logistically. As everyone knew, the boys were never sure how many games they would get, if there would be an official tournament or when the last game would be. Despite these hurdles the Varsity Boys Soccer Team excelled in every aspect of the game. They worked hard in training and cultivated a team atmosphere that was based on hard work, teamwork and an unrelenting style of play. The first game of the season demonstrated this grit and determination perfectly. Losing to TCIS 2-1 with most of the game played, the boys never stopped fighting, a goal back to tie the game was the start of the fight and then 2 goals in 2 minutes (including the goal of the season by Alex Lee), saw them start the season with a great comeback victory. From then on the boys knew that they could turn up the pressure until the final minute of every game, and that’s what they did. Going through an undefeated regular season, with highlight victories such as the comfortable 2-0 victory against Chadwick and the History Making 8-2 victory against SFS, on senior night no less. The guys were the #1 team going into the Korea Cup tournament. A hard fought semi final victory against GSIS 3-2 saw them throw their bodies on the line and deservedly make their way to the final, where they would face Chadwick once more. They took the lead early, but the fresher legs and some fortunate events saw Chadwick come back into the game and steal a victory in the last couple of minutes. The first loss of the season unfortunately came during the tournament final 2-3. However, the boys remained upbeat, they remained together and even during the last week multiple players talked about how proud they were of their achievements this season.
