Season Summary
The 2015 Varsity Girls Tennis team was made up of six returning players, one transfer, and two freshmen. The players showed significant improvement as a result of extensive practice on their own during the off-season, giving Coach Vachon the good problem of not knowing exactly where to place the players due to excessive talent. By the end of the season, the team came in 3rd place in the KAIAC Blue Division in conference play and improved in standings at the end-of-season KAIAC tournament by coming in 2nd place.
The season highlights for the team were wins in doubles against SIS, a team that had been undefeated the previous season, and Allison Park's comeback win against the SAHS 2nd singles player.
At the KAIAC tournament, Allison Park and Andre Lee were named to the All-Conference team. The 2015 season ended with Yejoo Kang, Allison Park, Jenny Yoo, and Andre Lee competing in the DODDS Pacific Far East Tennis Tournament in Okinawa, Japan. For the first time, YISS competed as a Division 1 school, and despite the tougher opposition, the girls took 4th place, and combined with the boys' performance, YISS took 3rd place. Yejoo and Andre placed 4th in girls doubles, while Allison and Jenny won the consolation bracket, placing 9th. Furthermore, Jenny and her mixed doubles partner Te Hun placed 4th, and Andre and her partner Matthew placed 9th.
