Season Summary
The varsity girls tennis team had a rebuilding season, with five of the seven players being underclassmen. The girls improved throughout the season in technique and mental toughness but finished both the season and the KAIAC tournament in 5th place. The standout of the team was captain Allison Park, playing 1st singles. Allison lost to only one player all season, finishing as the 2nd best girls tennis player in all of KAIAC.
Allison Park continued her successful senior season by finishing in 3rd in girls’ singles at Far East. During her semi-final match, several coaches commented that it should have been the final, but Allison was unfortunate to be seeded on the same side of the draw as Japan’s #1 high school girls tennis player. Allison and her doubles partner Ashley Koo paired well, placing 6th. Ryan Ham and Erica Cho battled to a 3rd place finish in mixed doubles action. Irene Gil played mixed doubles with Stephen Sung and doubles with Erica, with both teams adding valuable points to the YISS total.
