Season Summary
This year the swim team worked hard and the coaches expected a lot from them. The regular season was full of solid performances and exciting foreshadowing as the team saw young swimmers getting faster and faster each meet. With the A and B meet so early in the season this year the team had a big chunk of time to improve and surprise at the championships.
Championship Recap: Friday(Da1) the Guardian girls swim team had a great showing, but despite 4 school records and over a dozen other personal best times they still found themselves in 3rd trailing SAHS by only 2 points in a close battle for 2nd place.
The Boys Swim team also had a descent showing on Friday with numerous personal best times and 3 school records; however, they found themselves in a solid 4th position, trailing KIS by over 30pts for 3rd place.
Saturday(Day 2), the Guardian swimmers could have been content to hold on to their very respectable 3rd and 4th places. But senior captains Abby Bacon, Daniel Noh, and Edward Cho had different plans for the last varsity meet of their career! The Girls team flew by SAHS in the point standings finishing 2nd overall and tying our schools highest finish ever. The boys team was still trailing KIS by 16pts with only 2 events remaining, a seemingly impossible task... but the impossible was made possible with huge swims from all of our boys in the relays erasing the deficit and beating KIS by 1.5 points!!
Special congratulations to Jiyu Shin earning All-Tournament honors by placing 2nd in the 50 breast, 2nd in the 50 free, and 3rd in the 100 breast. This is the top individual performance in YISSTORY.
