Season Summary

The 2023 Lady Guardian Soccer Team overachieved all season long, ending with their first-ever ACSC title along with runner up finishes in both KAIAC conference and KAIAC tournament.

The three captains, seniors Alex Sohn (Best Defender at ACSC and KAIAC) and Sophie Cho (ACSC MVP and YISS’ all-time single season goal scoring leader with 28 goals) and junior Rachel Kim (All-ACSC and KAIAC Tournament) were dominant forces that demanded success and often willed the team to victories. Defense was the key to the entire season, and it was anchored by Alex and sister Avery Sohn and flanked by juniors Bonette Kim, Tiffany Kang, Marissa Myong, and Sophie Park, along with Sophomore Ellie Fertig. Zoe Chung (10) once again played the stabilizer role as a midfielder; and Juliana Austin (11) continued to do a superb job as the team’s goalkeeper. 

With 6 impactful seniors graduating from this team, next season’s team has huge holes to fill. However, with all the resilience and focus this team has demonstrated this season, you can be sure that there will be those who step up to continue the winning tradition!
