Season Summary
The 2022 version of the Lady Guardian Soccer Team finished with a successful, albeit a truncated, season. With only 5 official regular KAIAC season matches as Korea emerged from the COVID-19 cloud, the season was productive regardless. With an overall record of 7-4-1, with 38 goals scored and 11 goals against. YISS finished 4th during the season while placing 3rd at the season-ending KAIAC Tournament hosted by SFS.
Adeptly led by captains Sydney Chung (12), Tanya Kataria (11), and Sophie Cho (11), the 20 members of this team focused on improving as individuals and as a team. Despite the varying levels of skill and experience among the athletes, this cohesive unit was anchored in the midfield by Sydney Austin (12), Sophie Cho (11), leading goal scorer Rachel Kim (10), a new transfer Sydney Cho (10), and a talented freshman Zoe Chung. The defense continued to improve over the season, led by Sydney Chung, Alex Sohn (11), Sumi Fertig (11), Helen Park (11), and Avery Sohn (9).
With only 3 seniors graduating from this team, along with a slew of starters and eager footballers, this team has a bright future ahead.
