8-26-19 Music Electives this year!

Post date: Aug 26, 2019 10:13:2 PM

Good afternoon Middle School parents!

We are eagerly preparing for the year ahead and I personally cannot wait to see students. That’s what truly makes my heart sing! The purpose of this email is to give you extended information about the two music electives available for your 6th, 7th & 8th grade student over the course of this school year. As you know from a previous email this afternoon, registration for first term elective classes are online, BEFORE the very first day of school. Unfortunately, this means that I will not have the opportunity to speak to your children directly before they make choices. Hence, here’s the full scoop:

TERM 1: CHRISTMAS ENSEMBLE: Mele Kalikimaka! I am delighted to announce that Mrs Mills will be joining us this year. We cannot wait to dive in together! It’s exciting to expand the musicianship & performance skills of your older students. They are maturing and becoming capable of so much. Many students have already expressed interest so we are not putting a limit on enrollment and no audition is required. Click ENSEMBLE HERE for our schedule!

TERMS 2 & (most) TERM 3: SPRING MUSICAL: Our exact show will be announced Wednesday, October 16th, and yes, the secret is killing me :) I’m amazed how God has blessed us with talented and eager students who grow both in skills and enthusiasm. It has also been a joy to watch cast friendships develop across grade levels. Middle School students rehearse during elective classes. It is a two-term commitment, with one March and a few April pre-scheduled afternoons also required. After the show, cast members go to other elective classes. Due to the popularity of this event, our 2020 show will again include both Fri & Sat evening performances, as well as a pre-school outreach show Fri morning after our assembly. Although registration for the musical elective will not be until November, dates and information are now available on the music website: HERE I will preview the musical with Middle School students on October 16th and auditions (required for lead roles only) will begin shortly thereafter, during lunches & study halls.

I am delighted to give both of these musical opportunities to our students who continue to show a love for the performing arts. Thank you for talking through these options with your fabulous kids! I can’t wait to see them!

Have a great week! For His glory~
