Good afternoon parents of (now former) 6th and 7th graders~
This past April, a huge cast of 5th-6th-7th-8th graders presented our biggest musical production yet, “The Lion King”. Since then, many students have been asking about the 7/8th Christmas Ensemble and the Spring Musical for next year. I’d like to share with you what is planned. Parents of 6th graders, this is a big change for your family, as your student will now have the opportunity to participate in music electives during the school day as a scheduled class! Woo Hoo!
TERM 1: CHRISTMAS ENSEMBLE ON TUES/FRI MORNINGS Last fall we had a record breaking thirty-eight 7th & 8th graders singing! I’m so excited to raise the bar once again with this designated rehearsal time. No more speeding thru lunchtime rehearsals. It’s awesome to expand the musicianship & performance skills of these older students. They are maturing and capable of so much. I cannot wait to get started with this group next fall. Many students have already expressed interest and I am not putting a limit on enrollment. Click ENSEMBLE HERE for next year’s 2017 Schedule. So you are aware, sign-ups for first term elective classes will be on the very first day of school.
TERMS 2 & 3: MUSICAL ON TUES/FRI MORNINGS: Our choice of musical has yet to be determined, but all other plans have been made. 7th and 8th grade cast members will rehearse during electives. It is a two-term commitment (Jan-April). Participation requires a parent signature due to some mandatory after school rehearsals (mostly April). Again, I’m delighted to have actual rehearsal time with our older students. I’m amazed how God has blessed us with talented and eager students who get better and better, year after year. Their growth both in performance skills and enthusiasm has been a joy to watch. God continues to provide parent help that allows us to tackle such big musical extravaganzas! I will preview the show by late October and hope to hold auditions before Christmas. Student registration for the musical elective will be Friday, November 17th. Dates and information are available now on the music website (HERE).
I am delighted to give both of these musical opportunities to our older students who continue to show a love for the performing arts. Thank you for talking through these options with your fabulous kids!
WE GET TO DO THIS! For His glory~
