In the party bags kids will receive, there are rubber duckies. Rubber duckies are a long standing tradition with our WHCS extra curricular music participants- themed with our presentations. Our older students have quite a collection, so students might want to think twice before they swim away :)

12/1/21 IT'S ALMOST CONCERT WEEK!
Welcome back Chorale families!
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful week off and are getting back into the swing of things. There are no changes in our schedule, but just reminders about NEXT WEEK:
NEXT Tuesday, December 7th 3:00-4:00pm After School in Auditorium
We will be on the risers making critical technical adjustments for our performances, yippee! There are many staging details to address. As usual, students will be available for pick up @ 4:00pm, at the north gym exit, carpool style. Please continue to pull up as far as possible and we’ll scoot right along. Thanks so much. I honestly think this year has had the best pick up times ever! Kudos to you!

Also, if there’s a fellow early bird in the crowd, I’d love a cheerful parent to monitor the side door early Friday morning for Chorale students arriving, 7:20-7:45ish. Again, I thank you folks for your assistance!
HAVE THE MASK CONVERSATION WITH YOUR CHILD BEFORE NEXT TUESDAY PLEASE
It's your choice whether or not your child will sing with or without a mask during their actual performance on the risers. Please communicate with your child your desire. I will provide uniform masks for every student to wear for pre/post concert, walking on & off the risers, etc. Right before actually singing, students will be given an opportunity to remove masks with your permission only.
And most of all, thanks for your prayers as we walk into this busy season. It’s truly great to be able to do what we do with such limited time together. May our mighty God protect and provide for each of our students and families. And may He be glorified in all we sing, say and do!

11/4/21 Merrily We Roll!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ARE ALMOST HERE!
Well friends, things have indeed been rolling along. We are having a grand old time at rehearsals, singing and dancing the minutes away. However, we still have quite a bit to accomplish towards being performance ready. Our November After School Practice is Tuesday, Nov. 16th, the week after next. Please help your child be successful by clearing that hour so they can rehearse fully with the group. I appreciate your efforts very much! Besides those monthly after school times, we only have short, limited rehearsals during lunch recess. That’s just minutes a week! Please join me in praying that God would multiply our time and that our hearts would remain focused on pursuing excellence for Him!

Hello Chorale troops! I have all kinds of info and reminders for you today~
T-SHIRTS!
We will all “premiere” these shirts together by wearing them to school next Tuesday, Oct. 26th (same day as our after school rehearsal). That day is for our members to proudly display their shirts to school all day long (w/ jeans, shorts, sweats- anything is fine). We will be taking a group picture that afternoon.and I look forward to the sea of Chorale shirts in the halls!
YES, NEXT TUESDAY. OCT 26th is our big After School Rehearsal and T-shirt Day! Students should come having lyrics memorized. Please ask your child how they are doing in this regard. We must now dive deep into choreography. You can find lyric sheets & digital recordings posted HERE. And do not be surprised if you soon hear stomping and singing in the bathroom. I’m going to ask them to practice in front of mirrors. :) Remarkably, we only have a handful of weeks before Thanksgiving break to be performance ready. Our November after school date is Tuesday, November 16th. Thanks again for making our after school rehearsals a priority!
AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP & SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES REMINDER
Thanks for lining up carpool style at the north side of the building, all the way up the hill. Thank you also for special circumstances emails in regards to your student being absent, having permission to go with another parent, etc. For safety reasons, I will not be releasing students without prior permission from you. It’s super helpful to have those emails come before noon. Again, thank you so much!
At this point in the season, please encourage your kids to practice intentionally & with purpose. Singing along to the cds aimlessly can produce bad habits. Please understand me: I really am all for the sing-a-long in the van. But there also needs to be some concentrated, individual rehearsal time and attention to detail. Perhaps this weekend might afford 10 minutes for your child to execute a personal rehearsal as unto the Lord!? The general music selections for our Christmas Concert are also included on Chorale cds. This should give your child a leg up on learning those songs as well. Let’s be honest. Your 5th & 6th grade cream-of-the-crop students are musically talented and gifted. They also work extra hard. Sacrifice… determination… time…. concentrated effort: all to honor our Lord with excellence! Thanks for helping me instill the “We GET to do this” attitude with our students. Parents, never underestimate the incredible influence you have on the attitudes and minds of your kiddos! My getting-older-lady prayers are with you and for you as you raise up this next generation!

Heads up troops!
Chorale shirts were delivered to classrooms this morning. That’s just in time for next Tuesday, Oct. 26th (our once a month after school rehearsal & t-shirt day). We can proudly wear the shirts all day long and a group photo will be taken at rehearsal. I’m looking forward to the giant sea of black swag throughout the halls!

Good morning friends! A few Chorale updates for you~
Your kids are fabulous!
We’ve had a great week, 38 members strong! Rehearsals continue next week at lunch time. Please remind your kids that they need to be learning those lyrics. Excellence unto the Lord is our goal! Bright lime green lyric sheets have been passed out both for Chorale and general music class work.

Big thanks to you for the swift pick up Tuesday after school. I was particularly grateful for your helpful emails in regards to special directions for students, and carpool pick up by the red doors went great. Shout outs to Mrs Bates & Mrs Stilwell for helping us get loaded & rolling! The next after school rehearsal is Tuesday, October 26th. That’s also our day to premiere our new shirts by wearing them to school and we will also take an official group photo. I love Chorale swag throughout the halls!
Black Pants & Shoes Reminder
Both girls and boys will need black pants/leggings to be worn with Chorale t-shirts at the evening WHCS Christmas Concert. Nice black tennis shoes are fine. Students will be in regular school clothes for our morning assembly. Chorale members wear their Chorale outfits for the whole concert.

Hello Chorale families!
Just a few clarifying notes regarding pick-up at the end of our rehearsal tomorrow, after school, Tuesday, Sept. 28th (3:00-4:00pm). Please help our parking lot pick up run smoothly by remembering the following:
* Feel free to use both lanes of the parking lot to come towards the building.
* Merge into one line and pull all the way up the side of the building to the top of the hill. This will allow us to load up multiple cars at the same time.
* Students will line up against the outside wall of the gym. You are welcome to park in available spots and walk over to escort your children. But please be mindful of cars & holding up the flow. As stated in my previous email for safety reasons, I will not send children across the parking lot unattended.
Thanks ahead of time for your kindness and patience. My prayer is to have our 35 kiddos safely packed up and y’all on your way as soon as possible. I’m looking forward to working with the kids all together tomorrow!

Good morning Chorale parents!
FIRST THE FACTS:
* There are 36 Chorale members already. And they are fun!
* This coming Tuesday, September 28th, is our first monthly after school rehearsal, 3:05-4:00 pm
* Lunch recess rehearsals are up & running! Girls on Mondays; Boys on Wednesdays.
IMPORTANT DETAILS:
* Again, this coming Tuesday, September 28th is our first once a month AFTER SCHOOL rehearsal, 3:05-4:00 p.m. I will finish right at 4:00 sharp. Things to do, places to go- I know! :)
* DISMISSAL & PICK UP DEETS We will be at the red doors on the northside of our building at 4:00pm, between the auditorium and gym. We will load your cars with these budding stars starting at the top of the hill, so please pull forward, a la carpool style with your name signs visible. For safety reasons I will not be dismissing students to walk through the parking lot. Thanks for helping me with this safety matter. I would also like to thank you for being on time for pickup. Chorale students need to be supervised after rehearsals if staying on campus for any amount of time. They may not be left unsupervised to watch games or play on the playground. Thanks ahead of time for emails regarding special plans for your student to drive home with another family, or to be “handed over” to another parent supervisor or coach on campus. Your child’s safety is my top priority!
* I cannot express to you how important these few once-a-month after school rehearsals are. A handful of minutes at lunch recess is simply not enough. Thank you for making this monthly commitment a priority. Our goal is to honor the Lord with excellence and I truly appreciate your sacrifice & efforts!
* Cds of our Chorale tunes have been given to all members to make memorization easier! They include extra selections that all 5th & 6th grade classes will be performing as well. Happy sing-a-long times! But even better....
* Digital recordings and lyric sheets are also available! I will send you a separate email with recordings for ease of access. These recordings have already been sent to your student’s school email address. And they are always available on the Music Website. Speaking of which...
*The Chorale Page on our WHCS Music website will always have emails, updates, schedules, music, and more for your convenience.
* Heads up regarding “Uniforms” All Chorale members will need black pants, jeans or leggings, and black shoes for our December performances (nice black tennis shoes ok). Chorale shirts will be provided! They always count as spirit wear and we will all wear them Tuesday, October 26th, our T-shirt debut day and October monthly after school rehearsal. So fun!

Hello 5th and 6th grade parents!
Things are gearing up at school, and I must say I am so looking forward to seeing your children. Can you believe how the years fly by? Yay for new adventures and opportunities! Along those lines, I wanted to give you a specific plug for our premiere elementary vocal performance group, Chorale! Our group is composed of 5th and 6th graders, September through December. For 6th graders, this is your last chance to participate! And 5th graders, it’s finally your turn now, no need to wait any longer! To our new WHCS families, a huge welcome to y’all. Trust me, you don’t want your family to miss out on this extra music opportunity. Ask around!
Chorale meets during our first trimester, performing at the WHCS Christmas Concert & Assembly. For convenience sake, we meet primarily during the school day. Rehearsals are once a week during lunch recess (girls on Mondays/ boys on Wednesdays) and ONLY ONE Tuesday a month after school (3:05-4:00). All committed 5th & 6th graders are welcome. Dates, detailed information, and registration forms are now available on the WHCS Music Website Chorale page HERE. Information and Registration forms will also be sent home with students. Look for those red sheets next week or you are welcome to register online HERE.
I anticipate a great time with your children in their general music classes. I love seeing how much they grow year after year. Additionally experiencing Chorale together is frosting on the cake. Yes please! We GET to do this! Thanks for your consideration.
